A Graduate Sport Rehabilitator (GSR) is a graduate level autonomous healthcare practitioner specialising in musculoskeletal management, exercise based rehabilitation and fitness. Sport Rehabilitators aid people with musculoskeletal pain, injury or illness. They help people to maintain their health and fitness, recover from and prevent injury and reduce pain using exercise, movement and therapy.”

Sport Rehabilitators are practitioners who focus on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and management of a wide range of health conditions, MSK conditions and injuries/conditions of the bones, ligaments, joints, tendons, nerves, bursa and fat pads.

The Role of a GSR:

– Assessment
Using the biopsychosocial approach to assessment with full consideration of neuromusculoskeletal, physiological, psychological and health and lifestyle factors.

– Management
Facilitate recovery and return to activity/sport using evidence based management including therapeutic intervention, exercise rehabilitation and improving performance.

– Injury Prevention
Recognising and managing risk factors to prevent injuries.

– Immediate Care
Providing basic life support and first aid in emergency situations, evaluating acute injuries and illness and making informed decisions on continuation of play/activity or initiation further care.
