BASI Alpine Ski Instructor and Coach
I have always been interested in sport and have participated and worked in various sports over the years with particular focus on skiing/snowboarding and horse riding. I qualified as a ski instructor and subsequently a race coach to start with.
The knowledge I gained through my training and subsequent years coaching sparked a deeper interest in biomechanics, injury prevention, assessment and recovery, sports psychology and nutrition.
I went on to attend The University of Salford for a BSc in Sport Rehabilitation, where I graduated with first class honours. I was taught by hugely experienced and knowledgable lecturers and was able to go on several placements in a variety of settings including A&E, fracture clinics, private clinics and sports clubs.
I gained a wealth of experience and knowlege and a deeper understanding on the way our bodies work and how to effectively assess, diagnose, manage and treat a vast range of conditions and injuries.
Having been teaching skiing throughout university, I currently also working as a coach at 2K Performance based at The Hill – Home of Ski Rossendale and for the National Schools Snowsports Association (Impulse Racing). I also utilise my knowlege of sport rehabilitation to run some sessions off slope including strength and conditioning to help with injury prevention and treatment, as well as slope side first aid and coaching.
I have now opened Dynamic Movement, an injury and movement rehabilitation clinic in Heywood, Greater Manchester. I provide individually tailored, goal oriented rehabilitation services to those with injuries, long term msk conditions including arthitis and chronic pain conditions.
I have since expanded my skill set to include medical acupuncture and pelvic floor specific rehab and plan to continue to improve my skills and knowledge to help my clients.
